01

Create a React Native project

Choose React Native from New Project or use the terminal create command. VauCode creates the project and opens it in the editor.

Commands
vaucode react-native create <project-name>

Create a compatible React Native project.

02

Start Metro

Start Metro on an available port, or choose a custom port and optionally reset the cache.

Commands
vaucode react-native start

Start Metro on the first free port in the supported range.

vaucode react-native start 8082 --reset-cache

Start Metro on a chosen port and reset bundle cache.

vaucode react-native metro

Alias for starting Metro.

03

Build, run, install and launch

Use the React Native command family for Android app output.

Commands
vaucode react-native build

Build the Android debug APK.

vaucode react-native run

Build, install and launch the Android app.

vaucode react-native install

Install the generated debug APK.

vaucode react-native launch

Launch the installed app.

04

JDK reuse and current compatibility

Current VauCode React Native builds reuse the installed VauCode JDK 21 toolchain instead of downloading a second JDK. The current local Android workflow is aligned to the React Native version supported by VauCode's project creator.

Note: For the current release, VauCode reports React Native 0.81.5 as the supported local on-device build target. Use the VauCode project creator for the safest compatibility.
