Documentation rule: this VauSheet section describes the current implemented product behavior. It avoids claiming full Microsoft Excel parity or live-cursor collaboration where the current build does not provide it.
01

Local checkpoint

VauSheet stores the synchronized base version/base workbook plus an optional pending workbook in browser storage. Pending state is updated shortly after edits.

02

Recovery on load

When reopening a workbook, VauSheet loads cloud metadata, S3 workbook content and the local checkpoint. A valid recoverable pending workbook can be hydrated first and queued for synchronization.

03

Reconnect

When the browser returns online, the sync hook requests another save. Keep the tab open until the save status returns to a healthy state when recovering important edits.

04

Do not treat browser storage as a backup service

Clearing site data can remove the local checkpoint. For important portable backups, use the product export options in addition to normal cloud sync.
